How It's 100% Covered | IEP Pupil Transit
How It’s 100% Covered: District-Funded Pupil Transit via Your Child’s IEP
Under Massachusetts special education regulations (603 CMR 28.05(5)(b)), public school districts are legally responsible for covering the full cost of specialized, sensory-friendly transportation as an IEP Related Service. Families pay zero out-of-pocket costs—no MassHealth or private insurance required.
Transportation needs and accommodations must be approved by your child’s IEP team and included in the IEP. Coordinate the route and provider with your district before service begins.
